Portable barn options - additional costs for each
-Assuming they will be safe out there.
--To aleviate drafts we can enclose the nest box.
We calculate that a bird will probably lay 4-6 eggs per week depending on breed.
How many eggs do you want to have per week?
The 8 foot tractor, good for 4 birds = about 20 eggs/week
The 10 foot tractor, good for 5 birds = over 2 dozen eggs
The 12 foot tractor, good for 6 birds = 30+ eggs per week
The regular model prices are 8' $200, 10' $230, 12' $250
Are your birds large enough and well feathered to make it through the winter?
Perhaps you want the nest area enclosed.
Fully enclosing the nest area includes closing off the run except for one ground-level opening, extending the roof on one side and adding a window on the other side at ground level.
Closing off the run side is $15
Adding a window to close the entire nest in is $10
Insulation: Not necessarily required, but per your preference.
If you'd like basic insulation for $10, I can add reflective thin insulation on the top.
Also available on the sides and door for $5.
Full insulation requires additional wood to protect the insulation and the cost is $25
Large non-inflatable wheels can be added for $20. The unit is lifted on the light end and moved on the wheels.
A door is on the nest to access the eggs and nest.
Do you require a full-size entry door on the chicken run side?
If you will let your birds out of the coop you may not need this as you can lift it or tip it over to access the inside. All coops 12 feet long include this full door.
Do you have reason to avoid pressure-treated wood (PT)? The current chemicals used in PT wood are safer than previously. See article here: ============================================

WNC Chicken Barns - A-Frame triangular designs

A triangular design permits the most grazing room with a light and portable chicken coop.

Since the birds don't need headroom, height is often a consideration for the Backyard Farmer more than the fowl. The down side of this design is the requirement that in the summer it provides very little shade.
We will build to any design specifications you may desire.
